St. George Ferry Terminal, Staten Island, NY

In October 2009, Smalls Electrical was awarded the electrical portion of the NYCDOT project for the Rehabilitation of Ramp Structures at the St. George Ferry Terminal in Staten Island. This project is a part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, or the “Stimulus Act”.

The seven ramp structures on which work is to begin has very rough riding conditions, leaking joints, poor drainage, insufficient lighting, and pigeon infestation. The work to be performed will address these significant issues, as new decks will be installed, joints will be eliminated where possible, deteriorated steel replacement will occur, and Smalls Electrical will add the lighting elements including light poles and fixture to provide sufficient illumination for outgoing and incoming bus and passenger car traffic.
