Rehabilitation of Five (5) Stations, Brighton Line

As a subcontractor to Granite Construction Northeast under the Rehabilitations of Five Stations - Brighton Line in Brooklyn, Smalls Electrical Construction is responsible for the complete overhaul of the lighting and communications systems, replacement of DC power cables, as well as the replacement of existing signal equipment at the Kings Highway, Avenue H, Avenue, J, Avenue M, and Newkirk Avenue stations.

The new lighting system encompasses platform and control area lighting, upgrade and construction of new electrical distribution rooms (EDR), upgrade of signal power feeders, and power distribution to new passenger elevators at Kings Highway. The stations will also receive new Public address (PA), customer assistance information systems, as well as automatic fare collection systems.

Due to concurrent demolition and construction at all stations during the various phases of the project, Smalls Electrical designed and implemented temporary signal circuits that allow for the relocation of the local train service on the Southbound local tracks to the express tracks.
